Invitation to the opening reception for the new permanent exhibit Modern Marco Island at the Marco Island Historical Museum, October 8, 2015. In 1960, Marco Island was a remote barrier island with a population of 550 connected to the mainland by a single swing bridge. Over time, the Mackle Brothers' vision transformed Marco Island into a community complete with affordable homes, beachfront hideaways, hotels, schools, parks, golf courses, and more. |
