Real color photo postcard. Reverse reads: SEMINOLE WOMAN SEWING GARMENTS. As the Seminoles migrated to the Florida Everglades, their traditional buckskin garments were replaces by trade cotton which was more practical for the tropical climate. The applique style which developed in the late 1880s was apparently heavily influenced by the patchwork of the White settlers. Curteich Number 2DK-690 |
