Clarke's Service Station invoice |
Scope & Content |
Blank account, or invoice from Clarke's Service Station. Humorous note from owner Omah A. Clarke on reverse. Omah A. Clarke operated one of Naples' first filling stations and restaurants in the 1930s. When Prohibition ended, Clarke boosted his business by adding a tavern and a respectable name, the Tamiami Trail Café. The tavern was sold and torn down in 1957, to make way for another short-lived liquor store and bar, the Swamp Buggy Lounge. |
