Contents include: Spanish Treasure exhibit at the Collier County Museum Luncheon to honor "Very Important Volunteers" hosted by Lora Jean Young, a thank you to Hilde and Helmut Nickel and Maurice Gray. Also includes article entitled "Work on Everglades City Museum to Begin". The seven-year community effort by museum friends in Everglades City received the final go-ahead on August 5, when County Commissioners approved plans to begin work on the County's newest museum - the Museum of the Everglades. The building will be restored to its near original appearance with a $360,000 preservation grant awarded by the Florida Department of State. Work is set to begin in early September with a museum opening in April 1998, and scheduled to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the completion of the Tamiami Trail. |
