Wooden nameplate with applied wood letters reading "Mamie B. Tooke," circa 1979. Sign under name reads "Chairman of the Board". Two pen holders on each side on reverse. Mamie assumed role as President of The Bank of Naples in 1954 when her husband Clarence died. This was a first for a woman in the State of Florida. The Bank of Naples merged with Barnett Bank in 1974-5. In 1979, Mamie was named Chairman of the Board and CEO. She remained in the business for 30 years and retired on December 31, 1991. |
